Radius cuts and 90° inside corners in porcelain stoneware are some of the hardest cuts in tile: they take skill, they're slow, and there's no room for error — one crack at a corner and an expensive tile is scrap. The DiStar CordSET was built to take the difficulty, and the risk, out of them, so you get clean curves and corners right from the first try.
Instead of a blade, the CordSET cuts with a thin 0.5mm diamond wire. A hardened steel template — with 3, 6, and 12mm radii — sets the cutting path, fixed in place with clips and wedges, and the wire clamps into two comfortable quick-tension handles. Crucially, specialized clips lock the tile down on all sides, so the workpiece can't shift or crack at the corner or radius as you cut, and a highly absorbent sponge feeds water to the wire to keep it cool. The result is a controlled, guided cut that a freehand blade or grinder simply can't match for curves.
The heart of the kit is the diamond wire, made with multi-layer diamond-coating technology: it lasts up to 6 times longer than ordinary wires and cuts up to 50% faster, taking a 12mm radius in about 4 minutes (each 30cm wire is good for roughly 12–18cm of cutting). Five wires come in the kit, so you're stocked for real production on the cutouts jobs actually call for — flush-plate openings, vent holes, and inspection hatches. For the straight portions of those cutouts, pair it with a precision blade like the DiStar Colibri or the wet-cut DiStar Scalpel.
Pro tip: Keep the wire wet the whole cut with the sponge — a dry wire dulls fast and cuts slow — and let the wire do the work at a steady pace instead of forcing it. Make sure every clip is snug before you start so the tile can't move; a fully secured tile is what keeps the corner from cracking.
