A sheet membrane has one job — keep water in the shower and out of the framing — and one big annoyance: build-up. Thick membranes stack up under the tile, telegraph at seams and corners, and fight you when you try to crease them into an inside corner. NoFlo is FloFX's answer: one of the thinnest, most flexible thinset-applied membranes made, and it still hits the perm rating for steam showers, which thin membranes often can't.
It's a fleece-backed sheet that bonds to the substrate with full mortar transfer into the fleece — a 1/8"x1/8" square-notch trowel and 100% coverage is the target. Thin means barely-there build-up under your tile; flexible means it creases and folds cleanly for corners and holds that crease; and despite the thin profile, it's tough, hard to tear, and cuts with scissors. A printed grid on the face makes straight cuts and consistent overlaps quick, which reviewers consistently call out as a time-saver.
It comes in 100-micron Regular (39") and 200-micron Extra Wide (78") — the wide roll is the one for big curbless showers, cutting your seam count way down. For a fully waterproofed shower, band the seams and changes of plane with NoFlo banding, lock down inside and outside corners with the pre-formed NoFlo corners, seal pipe and valve penetrations with the NoFlo seals, and tie it all into a FloFX bond-flange drain — the Universal or Traditional kit — whose flange bonds to this exact surface-applied membrane. Lifetime warranty, ICC PMG1680 certified.
Pro tip: Use a 1/8"x1/8" square-notch trowel and confirm full mortar transfer into the fleece — peel back a corner on your first sheet to verify 100% coverage before you commit the wall. On big curbless showers, run the 78" extra-wide roll to eliminate as many seams as possible, then band every seam and corner you do have.
