Montolit FAJ12 1/2" Diamond Drill Bit — Valve and Hardware Holes on Big Panels

Half-inch holes tend to land on the cuts that matter — a shower valve stem, heavy mounting hardware, a precise penetration through a large-format panel. There's no room to chip out the face here. The Montolit FAJ12 drives a clean 1/2" hole through dense porcelain, natural stone, and glass on a vacuum-brazed diamond crown that bites hard and finishes crisp, so the important holes come out right the first time.

It runs wet or dry, on a drill or an angle grinder, with a balanced body for accurate, straight holes. Dip it in M-PERFORMER cooling gel for dry work, and chamfer the finished opening with the Diamond Countersink. Need to go bigger than a solid bit allows? Step up to the FSB Diamond Core Bits for larger openings.

Why Tile Pros Choose It

  • Clean 1/2" holes: Vacuum-brazed crown for crisp edges on critical cuts
  • Hard materials: Dense porcelain, natural stone, and glass
  • Wet or dry: Drill or grinder to suit the setup
  • Accurate and straight: Balanced body for precise penetrations
  • Best for: Shower valves, mounting hardware, and penetrations on large-format panels
  • No do-overs on the expensive panel: The one cut you really can't botch

Pro tip: On a large-format panel, mark and start slow — a 1/2" crown wants to walk before it seats. Keep it cool and steady, and support the back of the tile so the exit side doesn't blow out.
