ARDEX Liquid BackerBoard® combines the speed of a pourable self-leveler with the strength and stability of traditional cement board. Designed for use under tile, LVT, and most finished flooring, it provides superior bond and flexural strength while eliminating the need for mechanical fastening or mesh reinforcement.


  • Type: Self-leveling underlayment for wood and concrete subfloors

  • Installation: No lath or backer board required

  • Thickness: 1/8" (3 mm) up to 1 1/4" (3 cm) neat; can be extended with aggregate

  • Walkable: In 2–4 hours

  • Tile Installation: As soon as 6 hours after pour

  • Coverage: Approx. 50 ft² (4.6 m²) per bag at 1/8" thickness

  • Compressive Strength: Over 4000 psi (27.6 MPa)

Ardex Liquid Backerboard Reinforced Self-Leveling Underlayment - A Perfect, Tile-Ready Surface Without Traditional Backer Board

ARDEX Liquid BackerBoard® Self-Leveling Underlayment for Interior Wood and Concrete Subfloors is a pourable blend of Portland cement and other hydraulic cements that replaces traditional backerboards for a faster, easier, seamless installation of tile and stone over wooden subfloors, concrete, terrazzo, ceramic tile and epoxy, eliminating the need to cut, fit, glue and fasten. ARDEX Liquid BackerBoard DOES NOT REQUIRE LATH MESH, even when used to smooth and level wood subfloors. Tile and stone can be installed in as little as 6 hours. ARDEX Liquid BackerBoard is also suitable for the installation of engineered wood plank and laminate floor coverings and for encapsulating in-floor electrical heating systems.
