Ask a tile setter why they switched to FloFX and you'll hear the same thing: it was designed by one of their own to fix everything annoying about existing bonding flanges. The Universal Bond Flange Kit is the flagship — a square, code-certified drain body built for mortar and custom pans that does three jobs cleanly where other drains make you fight for each one. FloFX calls them Ready to Go, Ready to Roll, and Ready to Flo, and once you've set one, the names make sense.
Ready to Go is the plumbing. One universal outlet connects straight to a standard 2" waste pipe, or adapts to a 3-piece clamping drain using the included adapter — so the same kit covers a new build or a clamp-drain remodel. Underneath, honeycomb mortar cavities embed into the shower base and bond like an uncoupling membrane, while the support structure keeps the flange rigid and flat instead of oil-canning under your mud.
Ready to Roll is the waterproofing. The flange face is a woven, anti-wicking Seal Cell fabric that bonds tenaciously to any surface-applied membrane — sheet or liquid, FloFX's own NoFlo or the system you already run. Seal cells set the correct mortar thickness for sheet membranes, and the printed surface doubles as a visual coverage indicator when you're rolling on a liquid membrane, so you can actually see when you've got full coverage.
Ready to Flo is the part that makes it feel like cheating: the grate carrier and shim set adjusts the grate both horizontally and vertically, so you nail the layout and set the grate dead flush — the carrier literally sets just like a tile. A temporary install plate keeps the opening clean and the grate protected during the pour, and grates swap in and out with no visible screws. It works with any FloFX grate, including the grate install system and the tile-in options. Setting a foam tray instead of a mud pan? Reach for the Traditional Round Bond Flange Kit instead.
Pro tip: Choose the outlet path before you set — glue straight to the 2" waste for new work, or use the included clamping adapter (5/16" bit plus a polyurethane sealant) over an existing clamp drain. Leave the temporary install plate in through the mud and waterproofing stages so the carrier opening stays clean, and set the grate carrier last, treating it exactly like the surrounding tile for a flush, seamless finish.
