Chips are the enemy on glazed tile and red-hot porcelain gres — and on a finish-visible cut, a single chip means a scrapped piece or slow, tedious edge touch-up. The Elegant is DiStar's answer, and they don't hedge about it: it's the cleanest blade in their entire line, built to leave a perfect edge even on glaze.
The secret is in the rim. A very fine diamond and a self-sharpening bond on a thin 1.2 mm continuous rim shave through glazed ceramic and porcelain so cleanly that it's almost impossible to find even a minimal chip. It leaves the face clean and — the detail that matters for countertops and ceramic furniture — leaves no chips on the reverse mounting side either, so there's no further edge processing required. You cut, and you're done.
The small diameter is a feature, not a compromise. At 100 mm (4") it's smaller than a typical 115 or 125 mm blade, and that's deliberate: the compact disc barely leads to the sides, so it doesn't wander, and it runs with minimal vibration — exactly what you want steering a finishing cut. It runs dry on a handheld angle grinder with no water setup, and mounts on a standard 22.23 mm (7/8") arbor.
Pro tip: Let the thin rim do the work with a light, steady feed — forcing a fine finishing blade is what invites the very chip it's designed to prevent. Since it's a small dry blade, keep passes short and let it cool between cuts to protect the rim and the edge.
