The drain is the one fixture in a high-end shower that usually looks like an afterthought — a flimsy stamped grate with visible screws, sitting dead center of your beautiful tile. The FloFX Forty Five treats it as the design detail it should be. It's a solid metal plate with clean 45° lines milled across the face: a finished, intentional look that matches the rest of the fixtures instead of apologizing for itself.
Construction is where FFX grates separate from the stamped competition. The Forty Five is CNC-milled from a solid plate of 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum — or solid brass on the polished and brushed-brass finishes — with chamfered edges and a screwless drop-in fit. No visible fasteners, no flex, no rust-streaked screw heads: just a clean 4"x4" plate that drops in and looks machined, because it is.
It seats into a FloFX bond-flange drain — the Universal or Traditional kit — or, with the FFX Grate Install Kit, into a Schluter Kerdi® or Profilitec® flange, so you can run it on the drain system you already trust. And because the whole FFX line is interchangeable, you or your client can swap to a different pattern down the road without touching the waterproofing or the drain. It comes in a wide range of designer finishes, is ICC PMG1680 certified, and carries a lifetime warranty.
Pro tip: Match the grate finish to your drain-side fixtures — trim, valve, shower arm — rather than to the tile; the metal-to-metal match is what reads as "designed." And since FloFX drain bodies ship with a temporary install plate, you can tile and grout the entire shower first and drop the finish grate in last, so it never sees the inside of a slurry bucket.
