Two of the most common tile-floor callbacks come from things under the tile you can't see: a crack in the substrate that telegraphs up through the tile and grout, and the hollow drum of footfall noise carrying to the room below. Blanke TRIBOARD handles both in a single 1/8" layer — it uncouples the tile from the subfloor and it cuts impact noise by up to 17 dB.
As an uncoupling membrane, it isolates in-plane movement between the substrate and the tile, so when the subfloor shifts or cracks, that stress doesn't transfer into your finished floor. As an impact-sound layer, it's tested to DIN EN ISO 140-8 for up to 17 dB of footfall-noise reduction — the kind of number that matters in condos, multi-level homes, and anywhere a hard floor sits over occupied space. And it does it thin: just 1/8" of added height, with low mass, so it fits under doors and at transitions where thicker systems won't.
Don't let the thinness fool you: it has high compressive strength for traffic loads up to 104.4 psf, so it holds up under real use with ceramic and natural stone. It bonds in thin-set over concrete, wood, screeds, old tile, radiant floors, and more (load-bearing, dry, and flat), and it's a very low-emission, odorless product. For a complete decoupled, sound-isolating floor, seal the board seams with the self-adhesive joint tape, run the corner joint tape at the perimeter, and finish wall corners with the pre-formed TRIBOARD corners — together they stop the sound bridges that bedding mortar can create in joints and corners.
Pro tip: Level or fill the substrate flat before you set the board — TRIBOARD uncouples and quiets, but it won't fix a wavy floor. And use the joint tape and corners so bedding mortar can't bridge across seams and corners; a single mortar bridge is all it takes to short-circuit the sound reduction you paid for.
